Portal, the crypto gaming project behind one of 2024’s largest token launches, has introduced its new Portal Wallet and Game Discovery Hub. This launch aims to address two key challenges in Web3 gaming: cross-chain interoperability and game discovery.
Portal Wallet: Bridging 20 Chains
The Portal Wallet supports 20 Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains, including popular gaming networks like Immutable, Ronin, and Xai, as well as broader networks like Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Base. By enabling seamless interaction between these chains, Portal tackles the fragmentation that has hindered the gaming ecosystem.
Portal Hub: Curating Quality Games
Crypto gaming has long struggled with onboarding and quality assurance, compounded by bans on NFT games from major marketplaces like Steam. The Portal Hub simplifies game discovery, featuring over 200 curated titles at launch.According to Portal General Manager Ezra Strauss, the Hub aims to build trust by showcasing high-quality games while reducing exposure to low-value, exploitative titles. The long-term vision includes community-driven curation, where PORTAL token holders will help shape the platform’s content.
The PORTAL Token: From Hype to Utility
Launched in February, the PORTAL token initially reached a $561.6 million market cap before stabilizing at $70 million. While holding PORTAL is not required to use the Hub, future updates will allow token holders to influence its direction.
