Sky Mavis is shaking up Axie Infinity: Classic with the addition of Level 2 card part effects, accessible exclusively through the Cursed Coliseum (CC). While no balance changes are planned for Competitive Season 6 (S6), the new cards and mechanics aim to enrich gameplay and player strategies.

Level 2 Card Effects: What to Expect

Sky Mavis will gradually integrate Level 2 cards, iterating based on feedback. These cards bring fresh buffs and debuffs to the battlefield:

  • Penetrate (Debuff): Ignores shield for a specified number of rounds.
  • Immune (Buff): Negates all buffs or debuffs for a specified number of rounds.

⚠️Reminder: These changes are designed to elevate gameplay complexity without disrupting the competitive balance.

Cursed Coliseum’s New Curse Mechanic

To encourage experimentation with Level 2 cards, the Cursed Coliseum mechanics have been revamped:

  • Each entry curses two cards, with new choices introduced each round.
  • Cursed cards provide three options for players to choose from:
    1. One card from outside the Level 2 effects pool.
    2. Two cards from the Level 2 effects pool.

Curse Pool Mechanics

  • Rounds 1-6: The cursed card’s type determines which Level 2 cards appear. For example:
    • A cursed reptile card → Two random plant cards from the Level 2 pool.
    • A cursed beast card → Two random bug cards from the Level 2 pool.
  • Round 7: The system loosens restrictions. Any Level 2 card can appear, even if it’s the same type as the cursed card.

This dynamic system encourages strategic decision-making and introduces a layer of unpredictability to matches.
