Apeiron, the play-and-earn “god game” developed by Foonie Magus, has launched a major update for Season 3, introducing a revamped Apostle System that brings new gameplay mechanics such as Bless, Reforge, and Angelization. Along with these changes, the game offers an impressive 1 million USD prize pool in APRS tokens, making this update appealing to both new and veteran players.
About Apeiron
Apeiron is a blockchain-based god game built on the Ronin network. Combining rogue-lite dungeon card-battling with god game mechanics, it draws inspiration from classics like Populous and Black & White. Developed by a team of 60 in Hong Kong, Apeiron has raised $24 million USD to date, with a recent $13.5 million seed round backed by prominent investors like Hashed, IVC, Morningstar Ventures, and Spartan Group.
What’s New in Season 3?
Season 3 introduces both PvP and PvE leaderboards, running from September 5th to October 17th, marking the first time both modes are available simultaneously. Each leaderboard features different reward structures:
- PvP Leaderboard: The top 5000 players share a pool of 240,000 APRS tokens and over 340 Golden Apostle Tickets. The top 3 players each win 2500 APRS tokens. To qualify for rewards, players must achieve at least Gold Rank.
- PvE Leaderboard: This leaderboard tracks the best dungeon scores from a single playthrough. The top 10,000 players earn rewards like Animus and Golden Apostle Tickets. Players can also access new in-game items to enhance their dungeon performance.
This Season not only brings fresh features but also expands the utility of $APRS, Apeiron’s ecosystem token, which is central to governance, staking, and NFT minting.
Revamped Apostle System
The Apostle System upgrade offers significant gameplay enhancements, particularly around Apostles—advanced in-game characters that evolve into heroic figures used in both PvE and PvP battles. Three key features of the system include:
Angelization: Players can mint their PvE Apostles into tradable NFTs once all three of the Apostle’s skills are unlocked. A seven-day waiting period applies before minting, and costs vary depending on how many times the Apostle’s lifespan has been reset. The minting price starts at 50 APRS and 240 ANIMA.
Bless: Players can now bind Apostles to a Planet, transforming them into non-NFTs. This allows for skill progression, a feature previously unavailable for NFT Apostles. Blessed Apostles are limited to the Planet they’re bound to and have a 31-day lifespan, which can be extended by feeding them souls earned through battles.
Reforge: If players want to bring their blessed Apostles back to the blockchain, they can use the Reforge mechanic. Each reforge costs 200 ANIMA times the number of reforges, but the Apostle must have gained skills during its blessed period to be eligible.
Strategic Implications
The updated Apostle System adds a new layer of strategy, forcing players to decide whether to develop their Apostles’ skills by binding them to a Planet or keep them as tradable NFTs. The 31-day lifespan and soul-feeding mechanic introduce an element of resource management, where players must balance nurturing their Apostles with the potential rewards of minting new ones.
In PvP, the restriction that blessed Apostles are tied to their respective Planets adds complexity, as players can’t reuse the same Apostle in multiple battles. The Reforge system provides additional flexibility, allowing players to either return powerful Apostles to the marketplace or continue using them for in-game benefits.
With the Apostle System and the $1 million APRS prize pool, Season 3 brings exciting new mechanics and strategic depth to Apeiron, appealing to both newcomers and experienced players alike.
