The popular battle royale game Off the Grid has unveiled its politically charged “Save Democracy” content pack, just days ahead of the U.S. presidential election. The pack features caricature-style skins of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, complete with satirical voice lines, emotes, and themed weapons.
Political Skins Spark Social Media Buzz
The “Save Democracy” pack includes skins resembling rubber Halloween masks of Trump and Harris, bundled with two “Epic” weapons and emotes. Players can unlock unique character actions, like building a wall or throwing a Molotov cocktail.
Voice lines add to the humor, with soundalike actors performing quotes like Trump’s “I feel like a democrat” when injured and Harris’s “Tax that fucker” during combat. Available exclusively through the Pro subscription, the skins are accessed by decoding hex boxes in the game’s Hexes menu.
Cultural Play or Genius Marketing?
Off the Grid’s bold move has divided opinions online, with some calling it clever marketing and others praising its cultural relevance. The announcement has reignited interest in the game, which had seen declining engagement after its early access debut.
Gunzilla Games, the developer, also released a major patch alongside the content pack, addressing performance issues that had plagued players. Optimization improvements of up to 40% were highlighted in the patch notes, aiming to enhance the gaming experience.
A Crypto Game Breaking Through
As an Avalanche-based shooter, Off the Grid stands out for attracting traditional gamers despite its blockchain roots. While future plans include an NFT marketplace and GUN token integration, these features remain on hold. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC through the Epic Games Store, where it became a top free-to-play title shortly after launch.
