The Pixels Spore Sports S2 – launching December 10, 2024 – is the next major event in Pixels Online as a sequel to the Guild Wars S1, offering competitive PvP gameplay with strategic elements. With 15 million PIXEL and exclusive NFTs as prizes, this event calls for teamwork, resource management, and economic considerations. This guide will help you understand the mechanics, team-building strategies, and how to optimize your efforts for success in how to earn crypto and NFTs in Pixels.

1. Event Overview

Spore Sports is a 3-month PvP event featuring weekly sessions:

Duration & Schedule

• Event Length: 3 months (12 weeks)
• Tentative Dates: December 10, 2024 – March 4, 2025

Session Details:

• 2 sessions per day on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday
• Each session is 1 hour long
• Session times: 3:00 UTC and 13:00 UTC

Weekly Breakdown:

• Tuesday: 3:00 UTC and 13:00 UTC
• Wednesday: 3:00 UTC and 13:00 UTC
• Friday: 3:00 UTC and 13:00 UTC
• Saturday: 3:00 UTC and 13:00 UTC

Objective: 

• Plant, grow, and harvest as many mushrooms as possible for your Guild.
• Sabotage other guilds.
• Protect your crops from sabotage.

Team Size Tiers:

There are 4 tiers of Guilds:

• T1: < 11 members
• T2: 11 – 31 members
• T3: 32 – 65 members
• T4: 65+ members

You will only fight against guilds in the same tier. For example, T1 and T4 guilds won’t be on the same battle map.

If your guild changes tier midway, the progress in the previous tier is saved and will still be there if your guild returns to that tier.

You can switch teammates between sessions, but if the number of players change then the tier may change.

2. Getting Started

To participate:

1. Join a Guild: Purchase a Guild Shard to join a team. Shards for better guilds are more expensive (but you can make deals if you can promote yourself to the guild leader).
2. Prepare Your Team: Assemble active players, strategize roles, and communicate. It is recommended that all players join the Guild Discord for this purpose.
3. Plan Your Strategy: Maximize efficiency by coordinating planting, harvesting, and defense efforts.
4. Execute:
   • Buy & plant Spores.
   • Use Guano to speed up growth.
   • Sabotage others’ crops with Goo.
   • Defend your crops.
   • Harvest your mushrooms & earn points.

3. Tips for Success

The event is all about managing resources and teamwork, as well as leveraging premium resources at your disposal and knowing when to use them.

Resource Management

Calculate investments in GOLD and other items versus the expected rewards to maximize profit. In the long term, good players and guilds will always make good ROI.

Stay Active

Every guild and its players should be aligned on the same goal & participate consistently to maintain a competitive edge. Not maximizing efficiency or using every single unit of time or resource will diminish your chance of placing higher on the leaderboard. The rewards result in a positive feedback loop: the better your guild is, the stronger you will get and the better you defend your position.

Adapt Strategies

Adjust tactics based on opponent behavior and leaderboard standings. If you’re just starting out, focus on getting spores planted and growing them. When you’re at a good place, offense becomes the best defense: get your Goo and go to town on your opponents. When you recognize that you’re at an advantage, focus your efforts on defending your property.

Craft T4 Items

T4 ultimate items grant incredible benefits & will put you at a tremendous advantage:

• T4 Guano: near-immediate growth
• T4 Spores: grants 10 points when harvested
• T4 Goo: instantly kill the opponent’s crops

These must be crafted by funneling T2/T3 Spores, Guanos, and Goo into “mixers” located in the Cave Hub Map. Respectively, these are: Guano Mixer, Spore Chamber, Goo Pot.

They can be used every 24 hours, but the cooldown can be reset by using Charm, which you can purchase using Guild Runes (part of the weekly & seasonal rewards).

This allows you to build a lot of momentum by accumulating Guild Runes rewards, purchasing GW Charms to reset the cooldown of the mixers, shoveling T2/T3 items to prime them, and then throwing resources at them to generate T4 ultimate items.

Using T4 items can tip the balance of a battle in an instant. Want to get your Spores train to top speed? Invest in T4 Guano. Have solid defenses and a good growth plan? T4 Spores offer more points on harvest. Bent on crushing the opponent? T4 Goo will spell their worst nightmare.

4. Rewards Breakdown

The event offers multiple reward tiers. Weekly milestones and rewards depend on leaderboard rankings. High-performing players and teams earn PIXEL, exclusive NFTs, and other in-game benefits.

Guild Rewards

Guilds are rewarded on a weekly & seasonal basis.

Each week, rewards are distributed to the top 10 guilds of each tier.

At the end of the season, the top 3 guilds of each tier will be rewarded cryptocurrency (PIXEL).

Individual Rewards

Players can also win individual Web3 crypto rewards every week & at the season’s end.

Players are randomly assigned to a Division of 50 players. Within their Division, players compete to earn points and climb their Division’s Leaderboard.

Weekly vs. Seasonal:

• At the start of the event, players are randomly placed into a Division where they’ll compete with the same group throughout the 12-week event for Seasonal Rewards.
• Each week, players are randomly placed into a new Division to compete for weekly rewards.

In-Game Rewards

Aside from PIXEL and Guild Runes, both guilds and players can earn NFT prizes according to the table below. NOTE: these are seasonal rewards & not based on division (for individual prizes).
