Pixels Online’s Spore Sports has come back for another season, offering an intense and strategic gameplay experience with massive Web3 crypto rewards, including 15 million PIXEL tokens & various assorted NFTs. This guide breaks down the mechanics, key strategies, and tips to help you and your guild dominate in the Arena and earn crypto and NFTs in Pixels, where the Spore Sports action takes place. Understanding the Spore Sports Arena

The Spore Sports Arena is divided into 100 plots where guild members compete by planting, watering, fertilizing, and defending Spores. Each successful Spore harvest earns points for your guild, while your opponents will attempt to sabotage your efforts with poison.

Arena Layout

Tiers dictate the specific arena your guild will compete in. If your guild is in Tier 1, you will enter into Tier 1 Arena where your opponent will also be a Tier 1 guild.

Actions

Players can plant Spores, water them, apply Guano (fertilizer), harvest the mature Spores, or sabotage opponents using poison. Watering your Spores will also combat any active Poison set against them.

Scoring

Each successful Spore harvest grants 3 points to your guild. If you have Tier 4 Spores, this will result in 10 points earned upon harvest.

Key Strategy

Winning in the Arena requires efficiently alternating between planting, watering, and harvesting. Moreover, there are further concerns that you must be aware of in order to come out ahead.

1. Harvest Time Limit

Mature Spores will expire after 1 minute if they are not harvested, subsequently wasting all your resources and efforts if you don’t pay close attention to them. Make sure you are always on top of when Spores are ready for harvest, and get it done quickly.

2. Plant, Grow, Attack, Defend

The water vs poison battle is the crux of Spore Sports, and usually comes down to a 1v1 where an enemy dedicates themselves to poisoning your area, and you must water your plots to combat the poison.

The gameplay loop looks something like this:

Plant Spores into plot → water Spores → apply Guano → harvest Spores when they’re mature

At any point, when your Spores are poisoned, you must go back to Step 2 to prevent them from dying. If you’re planting or harvesting, stop immediately & proceed to water your Spores in defense.

When your defense holds and you regain control, harvest any outstanding Spores before they expire, then continue to water to keep up your defense.

When you realize there aren’t a lot of mature Spores to harvest, use Guano on growing Spores.

After harvesting a decent amount, you’ll have empty plots, and must start planting new Spores.

Mastering this cycle & react to your enemy’s actions appropriately is the key to winning the Spore Sports.

3. Choose Your Enemy

Do not attempt to combat a faster opponent, you WILL lose 80% of the time and waste your resources and time. Instead, identify a player who is a Quick Fingers Player who is fast & can handle competitive 1v1 battles of poisoning and defending Spores, or can focus entirely on harvesting while the rest of your team switches to attacking & defending so that the mature Spores don’t expire.

4. Manage Your Energy

As you can see, a Spore Sports session is extremely intensive & energy hungry, given the amount of actions you must take. Keep an eye on your Energy, and replenish with Berry Blasts regularly so you can continue taking action without pause. Make sure to stock up on Berry Blasts for this purpose as well, the recommended amount is about 150.

5. Optimize Guano Usage

Guano can accelerate Spore growth, and you can use up to 3 doses per plot. However, it has diminishing returns, so we recommend 2 doses per slot for optimal performance.

However, if you have full control of an area, dosing each plot 3 times will become a viable strategy.

6. Use Ctrl + H to Hide All Characters

Pressing Ctrl + H in-game will hide all other character models, allowing you to have a perfect visual of the playing field & lower the in-game latency, thus letting you perform actions quicker.

7. Organize Your Team

Assign specific tasks to guild members, such as planting, defending, or attacking. This ensures maximum efficiency and prevents overlapping efforts.

  • Defenders: Focus on watering and protecting guild plots.
  • Attackers: Target enemy plots with poison to reduce their points.
  • Harvesters: Prioritize cutting Spores and maintaining plot turnover.
  • (Optional) Fertilizers: Focus on dosing up plots with Guano. This task can be aggregated with Defenders or Harvesters.

Alternatively, guild members can handle multiple tasks at once, but are assigned to specific areas on the map where they can concentrate on growing & protecting their spot. Players who have their areas under control can go and help out any struggling teammate, or satellite players without a dedicated spot can hover around to assist multiple players with their areas, depending on the situation.

Use a platform like Discord to conduct team communication. The Spore Sports Arena is a real-time battle that is chaotic, frantic, and every action & every passing second counts toward victory.

8. Plan Your Resources

The Spore Sports is a battle of attrition, and each round requires a significant investment of resources. Commit your guild to a goal and plan around that goal. If you aim for No.1, prepare to invest heavily to compete with our guild – alternatively, you can join us instead!

For reference, this is what the No.1 guild brings in each session:

  • Spores: 500–700
  • Guano: ~1,000
  • Poison: ~1,000+
  • Berry Blasts: ~150

Keep in mind this is purely for reference, and changes significantly every week, as guilds come up with more strategies or react to new features introduced to the event.

Avoid overspending resources if your potential rewards don’t justify the cost. Set spending limits and calculate profitability based on guild earnings, and assess whether your guild members can effectively compete against other guilds. Losing is a real possibility in the Spore Sports (it is a war after all), and your investment may vanish with your defeat in-game, so exercise caution.
